Competitions can help a student to reach the pinnacle of glory, competitions in various fields are held to create a spirit to excel, to put one’s utmost, to do the best and with this idea, healthy competitions are encouraged in HGS functioning of the school not only in the area of academics but also in the area of co-scholastic activities.
Advancement in technologies, shrinking of times and space has brought some negative changes in the social environment and attitude of learners. Stress due to examinations, too much homework, peer pressure, loneliness, changing role models, unfulfilled ambitions and lack of harmony at home makes learning difficult. But if learning is related with fun, then it develops some new standards of skills. So keeping this in mind competitions are organized on every Saturday in HGS. Basically this is a platform for students to enrich their Co-Scholastic activities. All children need freedom. We try to give them enough opportunity through different healthy competitions. There are number of competitions which provide good atmosphere for learners by which they can balance their academics as well as other skills.
Games and Sports
Sports serve society by providing vivid examples of excellence—George F. Wil Sports Room, play grounds and courts of standard dimensions for games like basketball, volley ball, football, and badminton dot the school campuses. Sports and games are encouraged in the schools not with a view to promote competition but to look high beyond competition and participate in the events in order to maintain a healthy body and mind. Opportunities for competition at inter-house and inter- school level are made available to the students and they are encouraged to reach their full potential.
